Created a series of bumper stickers to be placed and decorated on car rearview mirrors. Aim to “attract” or draw the attention of the driver behind with designs inspired by existing road signs and variable message signs.

Designed a four-page booklet for Michelle Zauner’s original essay “Crying in H Mart,” written for The New Yorker, now published as a full memoir. Included footnotes on the side margins to translate and elucidate Korean words.

Designed the brand identity of Better World by Design, a joint student-led initiative at Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design that celebrates the interdisciplinary collaboration between designers, educators, innovators, and learners, and the annual design conference, through producing social media materials and posters as part of the graphic design committee.

Created a typeface inspired by thumbtacks in both lower and uppercase sets with three variations of regular or roman, outlined, and extra bold designs. A total of four modules derived from the thumbtack as a visual reference were utilized and manipulated to produce the typeface and its variations.

Developed an animated GIF utilizing “Tack,” a typeface I previously created for my Typography I course, to extend my exploration whilst depicting the form of thumbtacks, as the singular module and inspiration referenced while making the typeface, and its usage.

Produced a poster that revolve around an identical subject of seashells. Rendered photographs and typographic elements were employed to visualize the texture, qualities, forms, and emotions evoked from a seashell as the main object.

07. Weird Plant Encyclopedia

Developed an encyclopedia that consists of information on an array of plants and floras that are widely known for their peculiar appearance and traits. Organized the format into an accordion book for easy access and tangible interaction that allows viewers to separate the pages and transform the product into small postcards. Scanned hand-drawn illustrations were done by micron pens of different stroke thicknesses on paper.

08. Freshly Rebranding

Designed a rebranded identity for the former NYC-based meal delivery service, “Freshly.” Specified the service’s product by replacing the meal delivery service that consists of multiple cuisines and dining options with a kit of fruit and vegetables tailored to a specific menu for crafting smoothies and homemade beverages that are still provided with the same delivery system. Strived to infuse a vibrant and dynamic quality into the brand's overall image through a meticulous selection of typefaces, icons, and color schemes.

09. Planto

Produced a fictional plant delivery service under the name “Planto” for consumers to be accustomed to the increase in the homebody population and the interest in indoor hobbies post-COVID-19. The brand provides a personalized plant maintenance service that prioritizes comfort and connection, in which customers can entrust their plants to the brand during their early stages of development and later reuniting with them once the plants have fully flourished.

10. The Metamorphosis

Created a custom typeface “Cockroach Sans,” whilst exploring and elucidating the thematic element of 'change' inherent in Franz Kafka's novel "The Metamorphosis.” Linked to the narrative's contextual nuances, the font was designed to mimic the gradual distortion of visual elements, effectively reflecting the protagonist, Gregor Samsa’s, transformative journey.

Developed three experimental book designs using “Cockroach Sans,” the font created from Kafka’s novel as aforementioned. All three books encapsulate the contents and page layouts of the three chapters from the original novel within the symbolic form of a cockroach, delving into the essence of the narrative. Representing individual chapters, the books vary in size, font style, and layout, symbolizing the narrative's evolution. An image of a cockroach-like creature emerges when the pages come together in a single chapter, a metaphor for the novel's protagonist, Gregor Samsa's, physical and psychological transformations. The typeface Noto Sans was utilized for the novel's content and text, and was also morphed throughout the story to create a warped and unsettling appearance.

12. Free My Zoo

Designed packages tailored for children by blending zoo maps and organic elements, and implemented animal plush toys, inspired to address the complex issue of artificial enclosures in zoos that negatively impact captive animals' physical, mental, and behavioral well-being. The packaging represents both captivity and freedom; the front cover shows a map of a zoo as a route to freedom, whereas the plush toy is constricted within the box.
